Last weekend we had the pleasure of attending regional food contest-festival: Goralskie Jadlo (Highlander Cuisine) – Konkurs Potraw Regionalnych (Regional Food Contest) in Lopuszna village in Podhale, southern Poland, only 58 miles from Krakow. The contest is held every year in mid-July and this year was very special since it was the 40th Anniversary of this well attended festival!
Fourteen villages participated, a record, as was noted by the organizers from the Lopuszna Cultural Center. During Poland Culinary Vacations we cook, sing and dance with these same women. Every week we venture out to different villages and learn the secrets of their regional cooking.
There was plenty of delicious food and entertainment for everone during the festival! We highly recommend this event especially to those who love summer festivals, great food and music! Here are some photographs we wanted to share with you from the event (to enlarge, click on each photo):
