The Most Important Wine Regions of Poland

February 27th, 2018

History books tell us that growing grape vines and wine making began in Poland in the 12th century and wineries were found all over the country up until the 17th – 18th centuries. Unfortunately, growing and production has been interrupted by wars and economic crisis.

Today there are over 400 vineyards in Poland spread on over 450 ha of land and new, family owned vineyards are being established every year. Since 2009, wine produced in Polish vineyards can be purchased in stores. Polish wines can now also be ordered by glass or bottle in upscale restaurants around Poland and many have been recognized for their high quality by wine connoisseurs.
